Angus is a town situated in Essa Township, Ontario, west of the city of Barrie in Simcoe County. Plans for the community were first laid out back in 1833, and the area was supposed to be named “Rippon.” However, development came to a standstill, and much of the area remained unsettled for the next 20 years or so.

In 1853, tracks that ran through the area leading to Collingwood were built by the Northern Railway, known as the forefather of the Canada National Railway. At the time, the area was referred to as Pine River, as it was located very close to the river with the same name. It was later on changed to the Village of Angus in 1857, after Mr. Angus Morrison, the first Member of Parliament for Simcoe.

Today, Angus is scenic and enjoyable place to live in. The town seamlessly combines a small town character with easy access to modern amenities, with its close proximity to the city of Barrie and the 400.

The town is an excellent place to raise a family, as everything you need is a short trip away – excellent schools, the library, shopping venues, locally owned shops and restaurants, recreational facilities, and more.
